Wow! you managed to use my to favorite stories in one blog. I am forever indebted to the introducting and training in POT and regularly supervise students in its utilization. Similarly, the story about the mind being a scary place to enter alone explains to me so much about not only trauma work but almost all exploration based therapy. I would guess that if we took POT out of DBT, CBT, or ERP etc then they would not actually be competitive with POT in terms of efficacy. EBTs-POT = excrementalizing in all likelyhood and I imagine would have low effect sizes. I hope graduate schools still teach POT in addition to all the EBTs or we are going to be in a world of .....wait for it........excrement.

What a great article--and cleverly done! I find it so confusing when insurance companies ask "And what kind of therapy do you do?" I always think, "Do I have to pick ONE?" Maybe POT is the answer to be giving. I also strongly agree that the major treatment takes place through the therapuedic alliance. TPTA would that be?

Thanks for another great addition...Suzanne
